COVID-19 Preparedness Plan

Footbeats Corp (dba Footbeats/ Stride Rite/ Footbeats for women) is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our staff and customers. To ensure that, we have developed the following COVID19 Preparedness Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Managers and staff are all responsible for implementing this plan. Our goal is to mitigate the potential for transmission of COVID-19 in our workplaces and communities, and that requires full cooperation among our staff, management and customers. Only through this cooperative effort can we establish and maintain the safety and health of our workplaces.

Management and staff are responsible for implementing and complying with all aspects of this COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. Footbeats managers and supervisors have my full support in enforcing the provisions of this policy.

Our staff is our most important asset. We are serious about our staff’s safety and health while working at Footbeats. Staff involvement is essential in implementing and supporting a successful COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. Our COVID-19 Preparedness Plan follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and CT, MA and NY Departments of Health guidelines, federal OSHA standards  related to COVID-19 and Executive Order 20-48, and addresses:

• Hygiene and respiratory etiquette
• Engineering and administrative controls for social distancing
• Customer controls and protections for in store sales, drop-off, pick-up and delivery
• Housekeeping – cleaning, disinfecting and decontamination
• Communications and training that will be provided to managers and workers
• Management and supervision necessary to ensure effective implementation of the plan

Screening and Policies for Employees Exhibiting Signs and Symptoms of COVID-19

All staff should self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. The following policies and procedures are being implemented to assess staffer’s health status prior to entering the workplace and for staff members to report when they are sick or experiencing symptoms.

Staff members will self-screen prior to leaving for work each day. They will take their temperature and assess any signs of being unwell. If staff member has a temperature above 100 or experiencing symptoms while at home, they must notify their manager as quickly as possible. If they start feeling sick or experiencing symptoms while at work, they will prepare to leave the store immediately and stay out of work for the CDC required isolation time period (currently 14-days). In this case, all surfaces at the store will be promptly cleaned with disinfectant.

Footbeats requires staff to stay at home when they are sick, when household members are sick, or when required by a health care provider to isolate or quarantine themselves or a member of their household.  Staff with underlying medical conditions are encouraged to stay safely at home.
Footbeats has also implemented a policy for informing staff members if they have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 at their workplace and requiring them to quarantine for the required amount of time.

We will relay this information to all staff members via phone call, email, chat, or text. All staff will also have to read this document and sign once completed.

Handwashing

Basic infection prevention measures are being implemented at our workplaces at all times. Staff are instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, but especially at the beginning and end of their shift, prior to any mealtimes and after using the toilet. Hand-sanitizer dispensers (that use sanitizers of greater than 75% alcohol) can be used for hand hygiene in place of soap and water, as long as hands are not visibly soiled.

Staff will wash or sanitize their hands between each customer (at the conclusion of working with a family).  Hand sanitizer is available at the front of the store for customers and in staff designated areas for staff use.  Disposable gloves will be available to staff if desired.

Respiratory Etiquette: Masks must be worn

Staff and customers are being required to wear masks, no exceptions. We will have masks available at the door for those that do not have their own. We will also have mask for sale from Teva as soon as they arrive.

All staff members may wear Footbeats supplied, or their own face masks when on the sales floor or when working with customers.

Social Distancing

Social distancing is being implemented in the workplace through the following engineering and administrative controls:

  • Limiting the number of customers in the store, this varies by location size. You will have a maximum capacity number

  • Private Appointments may be booked at all locations, for now the first and last hour will be reserved for this service as requested.

  • One team member will work alongside each family, from greeting them at the door to escorting them out when they leave.

  • We will have traffic flow arrows on the floor designating how customers should move through the store.

  • Sales floor etiquette will not allow  BROWSING!

  • Front door remains locked  if we hit capacity even during normal business hours.

  • Customers will wait outside of store until space is available.

  • Store has been sectioned-off to form 4-5 fitting stations.

  • Kids play area and toys have been removed to insure a safe environment.

  • Plexiglass barriers have been purchased for the cash wrap area

  • For stores with multiple entry points one door is now enter the other exit. Doors will remain propped open when we are not at capacity to avoid a touch point

  • Communication updates are done regularly both internally and to our customers via email.

Staff and customers are prohibited from gathering in confined areas and from using other staff member’s personal protective equipment, phones, or other personal work tools and equipment.

Housekeeping

Regular housekeeping practices are being implemented, including routine cleaning and disinfecting of work surfaces, equipment, tools, and areas in the work environment, including restrooms, break rooms, and drop-off and pick-up locations. Frequent cleaning and disinfecting will be conducted in high-touch areas, such as phones, keyboards, touch screens, controls, door handles, credit card readers, etc.

  • Sanitize credit card readers after each use

  • Sanitize Brannock device  after each use.

  • Sanitize fitting station after each use, including bench.

  • Store will be completely sanitiezed before close so we start fresh every day.

  • All shoe boxes must be returned to back room (not left on back counter).

Communications and training

This Preparedness Plan was communicated via email to key staff on the week of May 11-18, 2020 and necessary training will be provided. Additional communication and training will be ongoing and provided to any staff who did not receive the initial training.  We will email customers with our protocol prior to opening, to ensure social distancing between the customer, the staff and other customers, and about  mandatory use face masks for customers at all times. Managers and supervisors are to monitor how effective the program has been implemented by communicating with staff and gathering feedback. Management and staff are to work through this new program together and update the training, as necessary. This COVID-19 Preparedness Plan has been certified by Footbeats Corp management and was posted throughout the workplace May 14-May 18th, 2020. It will be updated, as necessary.
